An All Progressives Congress (APC) chieftain in Kano State, Dr Musa Ilyasu Kwankwaso, has led a political mobilisation in Madobi Local Government Area, the hometown of former Kano State Governor Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, in support of President Bola Tinubu ahead of the 2027 general elections.
The mobilisation attracted hundreds of APC supporters, including women and youths, who gathered to express their support for Tinubu and pledged to work towards his re-election.
The event also brought together political figures who had previously been on opposing sides, with the organisers describing the gathering as part of efforts to establish a broader political alliance ahead of the next general elections.
Musa Ilyasu Kwankwaso described the political development in Madobi as a significant realignment, noting that individuals who had opposed one another for nearly three decades were now working towards a common political objective.
He said the emerging alliance was intended to unite different political interests and strengthen support for Tinubu ahead of the 2027 presidential election.
Former Kano State House of Assembly member and grassroots politician Habibu Hassan Elyakub also spoke about the mobilisation, highlighting Musa Ilyasu Kwankwaso's previous electoral victories in the local government, including his tenure as council chairman.
Elyakub expressed confidence in the group's ability to mobilise supporters in the area, despite the established political influence of Rabiu Kwankwaso in his hometown.
He also reaffirmed the group's commitment to campaigning for Tinubu in the forthcoming election.
Women and youths featured prominently at the gathering, with the APC Woman Leader, Hajiya Assabe Diko, announcing plans for house-to-house and door-to-door mobilisation to encourage residents to support the president.
The proposed campaign is expected to involve increased grassroots engagement across the local government as the political activities ahead of the 2027 elections gather momentum.
Musa Ilyasu Kwankwaso also highlighted several federal projects in Kano State, including the Abuja-Kaduna-Kano-Katsina road, railway projects, road infrastructure and security initiatives, as part of the reasons for the group's support for the Tinubu administration.
The mobilisation in Madobi comes amid growing political activities and efforts by different groups to build alliances and organise support ahead of Nigeria's 2027 general elections.
