INEC Begins Voter Register Display, PVC Collection in Ondo Ahead The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) will begin displaying the Preliminary Register of Voters across Ondo State on October 9, 2026, alongside the commencement of Permanent Voter Card (PVC) collection, as the commission intensifies preparations for the 2027 general elections.
Ondo State Resident Electoral Commissioner, Dr Mutiu Agboke, announced the exercises during a stakeholders’ meeting in Akure, where he urged political actors and other stakeholders to trust the electoral process and support efforts to strengthen its credibility.
The preliminary register will be displayed across the state’s 203 electoral wards, giving eligible voters an opportunity to verify their registration details and submit claims or objections where necessary.
Agboke also urged residents, particularly those who transferred their voter registration during the recently concluded Continuous Voter Registration exercise, to collect their PVCs and prepare to participate in the forthcoming elections.
The REC said INEC’s ongoing reforms were aimed at improving the credibility of Nigeria’s electoral system and strengthening public confidence in election outcomes.
Although the commission had yet to achieve all its objectives, he said progress had been made in the electoral process, reaffirming INEC’s commitment to protecting voters’ choices and ensuring that valid votes determine election results.
The Akure meeting brought together stakeholders to discuss electoral reforms, voter education and ways to encourage greater participation by eligible citizens ahead of the 2027 polls.
The engagement is part of INEC’s wider efforts to improve public understanding of the electoral process, strengthen cooperation with stakeholders and promote peaceful, inclusive and credible elections.
The commission’s stakeholder engagement series is expected to continue in Okitipupa on Friday, October 9, 2026.
