The lawmaker representing Osun Central Senatorial District in the National Assembly, Senator Olubiyi Fadeyi, has said his political ambition for the 2027 election will not distract him from implementing constituency projects across the district.
Fadeyi stated this while inspecting ongoing and completed projects in parts of Osun Central, including the commencement of a 7.5 Mega-Volt-Amperes (MVA) power transformer sub-station project in Ila-Orangun.
The senator also flagged off work on a two-kilometre road leading to the Federal University of Health Sciences Teaching Hospital in Ila-Orangun, Osun State.
He disclosed that work had also commenced on solar-powered streetlights along the Otan-Ayiegbaju to Ila-Orangun route.
Fadeyi, who inspected the completed Open University Community Centre in Ifon-Osun, the Open University Community Centre in Oke-Ila and a market mall comprising two blocks of 16 shops in Inisa, said additional developmental projects would be initiated across the 10 local government areas in the senatorial district.
The senator said the purpose of inspecting the projects was to ensure that ongoing works complied with specifications.
“I am inspecting some of the senatorial projects I initiated to ensure compliance with specification. We have a lot of projects that have been completed already and more projects across the 10 local government areas in Osun Central Senatorial District will come up latest by November,” he said.
He listed some of the completed projects as four-block classroom facilities at Ota-Efun Community Grammar School in Olorunda Local Government Area and four-block classroom facilities at Anglican Grammar School, Iree, in Boripe Local Government Area.
He also said work had been flagged off on a five-kilometre solar-powered streetlight project from Otan-Ayiegbaju to Ila-Orangun.
According to him, the construction and installation of the 7.5 MVA power transformer sub-station in Ila-Orangun had also been formally flagged off, while work on the two-kilometre road leading to the Federal University of Health Sciences Teaching Hospital in Ila-Orangun had commenced.
“The forthcoming election won’t cause distractions. We will continue to work on the ongoing projects and initiate new ones,” Fadeyi said.
The senator said the projects were selected following consultations with residents of the communities where they were located.
He also called on politicians to create opportunities for regular engagement with their constituents to better understand and respond to their needs.
On his 2027 political ambition, Fadeyi, who is seeking re-election on the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), said voters would consider the records of politicians rather than promises.
