| Peter obi/Kwankwaso during a campaign |
A campaign activity involving supporters of Peter Obi and Rabiu Kwankwaso was reportedly disrupted by an attack in Warri, Delta State.
The incident was brought to public attention by Esther Umoh, a photographer associated with Obi, who shared an account of the development on X.
Umoh alleged that a group of politically sponsored thugs attacked members of the campaign team during their mobilisation activities in the city.
She said those affected reportedly included members of the entourage of the Delta State governorship candidate, alongside supporters associated with the Obidient and Kwankwasiya movements.
A video circulated alongside the allegation showed people running amid what appeared to be a chaotic situation. A voice heard in the recording accused the attackers of targeting the group and called on supporters to stand their ground.
The circumstances surrounding the reported incident, including the identities of those responsible and whether anyone was injured, were not independently established in the information provided.
The development comes as political supporters continue grassroots mobilisation and campaign-related activities ahead of Nigeria’s 2027 general elections.
Further details from relevant security authorities or other parties involved would be required to establish the full circumstances of the reported incident.
Obi and Kwankwaso are being mobilised under the NDC platform, with members of the Obidient and Kwankwasiyya movements also involved in the wider support structure.
The Obi-Kwankwaso support movement recently announced a 59-member presidential campaign council made up of coordinators and directors from across the country.
