INEC Opens Portal for 2027 Election Ad-Hoc Staff Recruitment, Sets November Deadline

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has opened its recruitment portal for ad-hoc personnel ahead of the 2027 general elections, inviting eligible Nigerians to apply for various temporary election duties across the country.

The commission said the exercise, conducted through its Personnel Recruitment System, is part of early preparations for the nationwide polls, which will require large-scale deployment of election officials to polling units and other designated centres.

INEC fixed November 18, 2026 as the deadline for submission of applications, warning that the portal will close at midnight on the specified date.

The available positions include Supervisory Presiding Officers, Registration Area Centre Managers, Registration Area Technical Support staff, Presiding Officers and Assistant Presiding Officers.

According to the electoral body, applicants must meet specific qualifications tied to their chosen roles, with different eligibility requirements set for each category of ad-hoc staff.

It noted that National Youth Service Corps members, students of tertiary institutions and qualified public servants may be eligible to apply for certain positions, provided they satisfy the stipulated conditions.

INEC further stated that, except for technical roles, applicants are generally required to be residents of the states they select during registration.

The commission also imposed strict conditions for participation, stating that applicants must not be members of any political party or be associated with partisan political support for any candidate.

It warned prospective applicants to rely solely on its official recruitment platform, cautioning against fraudulent websites and individuals demanding payment for recruitment into its ad-hoc workforce.

INEC urged interested Nigerians to carefully review the requirements for their preferred positions and complete their applications before the November 18 deadline, as part of preparations for the 2027 electoral process.
