Nigerian singer Adewale Mayowa Emmanuel, popularly known as Mayorkun, has said he intends to conduct a DNA test before accepting responsibility for any child born to his future wife.
The singer disclosed this during a recent episode of the *In My Opinion* podcast, where he also revealed that he had discussed signing a prenuptial agreement with his girlfriend before marriage.
According to Mayorkun, his proposal to combine a prenup with DNA testing after childbirth did not go down well with his girlfriend, but he said he remained determined to proceed with the plan.
“I told my girlfriend we’d have to do a prenup and DNA test when she gives me a child, just to be sure. She got upset,” he said.
Mayorkun further stated that he had considered carrying out the DNA test without informing his partner. He said the outcome would determine his next step regarding the child.
“I have thought of doing the DNA test without telling her. If it is my child, no issues. If not, everybody will hear about it,” he said.
His comments come amid growing public discussions in Nigeria about paternity testing and allegations of paternity fraud.
The issue has also attracted attention from some public figures who have encouraged men to establish the biological paternity of their children before assuming parental responsibility.
