Victor Osimhen has moved a step closer to returning to action after the Galatasaray striker resumed partial team training ahead of Friday’s Turkish Super Lig meeting with Kasımpaşa.
The Nigeria international, who has been sidelined by a groin injury, joined his teammates for part of Tuesday’s session at the Kemerburgaz Metin Oktay Facilities under head coach Okan Buruk.
Osimhen participated in the opening stages of the workout before switching to an individual programme designed by Galatasaray’s medical team as he continues his recovery.
The session included a dynamic warm-up, passing drills, possession exercises and a small-sided game.
While his return to group training is an encouraging sign, Galatasaray are expected to manage the 27-year-old carefully as he works towards full fitness.
The club is assessing Osimhen with a possible appearance against Kasımpaşa at Rams Park on October 9 in mind.
His availability could also be important ahead of Galatasaray’s next major fixture, with the Turkish champions scheduled to host Barcelona in the UEFA Champions League four days after the league encounter.
Meanwhile, Mario Lemina and goalkeeper Günay Güvenç completed the full training session with the squad.
Wilfried Singo and Roland Sallai continued their rehabilitation programmes separately as they recover from their respective injuries.
Galatasaray are due back in training on Wednesday at 5pm as preparations continue for the visit of Kasımpaşa.
